Units, Topis and Pages are heirachical organisational units that display the Online Course. Units are the top level and are optional. Units are usually used when creating a large Online Course that requires a third tier or organisation. Topics are the next level down from Units. A Unit can have many Topics. Pages are the final level or organisation. Topics can have many Pages. Pages are the level that Page Elements can be added.
To open the Course Design Studio:
- Open kwiklook and login.
- Click the ‘WHS Compliance’ module on the main menu.
- Click the ‘Online Course Designer’ menu item.
- Double click the ‘Online Course’ to be updated.
- Click the ‘Design Course’ button. This opens the ‘Course Design Studio’ window.
Adding Units to an Online Course:
- Select the top level of the Course Design Studio Tree called ‘Units’.
- Click the ‘New’ button.
- In the ‘Edit Unit Detail’ window, fill out the below items:
- Title – The name of this Unit.
- Description – A detailed description of this Unit.
- Display Unit Header’ – This option displays the Unit ‘Title’ to the end user.
- Display Description – This option displays the Unit ‘Description’ to the end user.
- Click ‘Save’.
Adding Topics to an Online Course:
- If using ‘Units’ then expand the Unit this Topic is to be added to and select the level called ‘Topics’. If not using ‘Units’ then select the top level of the Course Design Studio Tree called ‘Topics’.
- Click the ‘New’ button.
- In the ‘Edit Topic Detail’ window, fill out the below items:
- Title – The name of this Topic.
- Description – A detailed description of this Topic.
- Display Topic Header’ – This option displays the Topic ‘Title’ to the end user.
- Display Description – This option displays the Topic ‘Description’ to the end user.
- Randomise Questions – This open enables the ‘Pages’ in this Topic to be randomised when the end user starts the Online Course. This option is disabled if not enabled in the ‘Online Course Detail > Options’ tab.
- Click ‘Save’.
Adding Pages to an Online Course:
- Expand the Topic this Page is to be added to and select the level called ‘Pages’.
- Click the ‘New’ button.
- In the ‘Edit Page Detail’ window, fill out the below items:
- Title – The name of this Page.
- Description – A detailed description of this Page.
- Display Description – This option displays the Page ‘Description’ to the end user.
- Click ‘Save’.
